This month, the Councils are going to take live public comments by phone during the meeting, as well as online. This experiment will start with the San Fernando Valley Service Council meeting on June 3. During the San Fernando Valley meeting, members of the public can call 877.422.8614 and enter Meeting Extension 3654496# during the presentation of the item they wish to comment on. Callers will be announced by the last four numbers of their phone number, then their line will be unmuted and they’ll have two minutes to make their comments. If the experiment works, information on how to make live comments during the other Council meetings will be listed on their agendas which will be posted here at least 72 hours in advance of the meetings.
To comply with local and state directives limiting the number of people that can gather, the Service Councils will continue to meet virtually. If you’re curious what happens at a Service Council meeting, all of the meetings will be accessible via video stream and phone. You can call to listen to any of the Council meetings by dialing 877.422.8614 and entering the meeting extension listed with the Service Council below; links to each meeting’s video stream area also provided. For the June meetings, all Councils will receive an update on Metro’s COVID-19 response, which will include a preview of June Service Changes, information on April Bus ridership and Metro’s Recovery Task Force, and a report on items of interest to their respective regions. They will also approve their Work Plans and elect their Chairs and Vice Chairs for the upcoming fiscal year. Last, but certainly not least, they will also approve their region’s public hearing time and date to be held in August of this year on the revised NextGen Bus Plan proposals.
A couple of additional items on this month’s agendas: San Fernando will welcome a new member, CSUN student Leslie Aguirre, and the Gateway Cities, South Bay, and Westside Central Service Councils will recognize outgoing members. An I-105 ExpressLanes update will also be shared at the Gateway Cities and South Bay meetings. Last, but not least, the South Bay will also hear an update on the Centinela Grade Separation.
The links to stream, and the phone number and meeting extension to call to listen will be listed at the top of each agenda. Each agenda also contains links to the meeting’s presentation materials, though sometimes the presentation links may take a little longer to post.
