One diner says this restaurant has the best chili dogs ever. No frills, just honest food at a fair price keeps customers coming back. Take out and delivery are available. “Absolutely amazing” says one very happy diner.

This hot chicken joint is the sister of an earlier location in Hollywood but draws its own crowd of repeat customers. Nashville style hot Chicken (from tenders to sliders) comes with your choice of sauce in several heat levels. All are great–the hot hot sauce may take some getting used to if you’re not expecting it so be warned. “So damned good” is how one diner puts it.

This mexican/Specialty restaurant has a loyal following of fans. One fan put it succinctly: “Go here!” It’s another hole-in-the-wall but diners have actually been lured inside merely by the wafting chicken aroma coming from the place. Others say we are spoiled in the L.A. area because we have so much delicious food to try and Pop’s is on that list.The chicken gets high marks as do the homemade tortillas and even ribs.

Another offering in the Nashville-style hot chicken craze that’s filling up Sun Valley. Intrigued diners find this place from the rave reviews online and it doesn’t disappoint. The hot chicken sliders are crispy and the food is fresh. People love the friendly service, too. Original sauces get high marks. One diner writes that the chicken is good but the fries are AWESOME. Chickenleno’s definitely serves up some great food.

Located barely outside the border of Sun Valley, The Swinging’ Door Texas BBQ is high on the list of many craving authentic BBQ. They praise the restaurant for its flavor, service and quality. Brisket, burnt ends chicken and pulled pork are all favorites. The “heavenly” food is great but if you’ve got room you may want to try the fried Oreos.

One more Valley Nashville-style chicken restaurant of note is The Kluckin’ Chicken. Located a drive away from Sun Valley, this place has its own set of loyal diners. Diners say its competes with any other chicken shop and the chicken is hot and juicy. “Delicious” and “huge portions” keep people dedicated to this establishment. The flavors have been called the “bomb.” It doesn’t get better than that. Parking may be an issue but you’ll be delighted once inside. Takeout and delivery are offered.

Another Sun Valley neighbor Banging’ Buns has earned its share of followers. They offer (what else) Nashville-style hot chicken in a hot dog bun with your choice of sauce in 5 spice levels. As one diner tells it, what separates This establishment from its rivals is the sweet addition of honey to compliment the spice of the sauces. The place is always busy (of course). In addition to the chicken, the fried also get a lot of superlative reviews. They also offer take out as well as delivery options.
The Mandarin Terrace

A Sunland Blvd staple, The Mandarin Terrace has been a fixture for years. And yes, we have a lot more than chicken shops in Sun Valley. Seasoned local diners keep coming back year after year to this authentic Chinese eatery. Like most restaurants on our list this one is called another “hidden gem.” Freshness and variety get high praise. Sample some great dishes like Spicy Eggplant or Sweet and Sour Pork. The menu is extensive so you can return to try other dishes. The quality of service is also appreciated by diners.

Close to Sun Valley on Sherman Way is New Pho 999, another Asian entry on our list. Diners like the excellent customer service as well as the food. The Pho gets high marks and though parking may be a concern, diners have kept coming back for more. No bells and whistles but just high quality, delicious Vietnamese food. Diners would give more than two thumbs up if they had more than two thumbs.
Shiso Sushi Bar

Rounding out the list is one more Asian restaurant: Shiso Sushi Bar. Diners remark on the freshness of the fish served as well as the variety of items on the menu. The restaurant has become so popular that it may be hard to get a table at certain times. Recommended dishes: Lemon Roll and Sea Bass Tempura Roll. Bacon asparagus kushiyaki skewers rated a “freakin’ awesome” from one diner. Like many places in Sun Valley, the exterior may not be much to look at but like a cloud with a silver lining, Shiso Sushi Bar is wonderful on the inside.
