One fan put it succinctly: “Go here!” It’s another hole-in-the-wall but diners have actually been lured inside merely by the wafting chicken aroma coming from the place. Others say we are spoiled in the L.A. area because we have so much delicious food to try and Pop’s is on that list.The chicken gets high marks as do the homemade tortillas and even ribs.

One more Valley Nashville-style chicken restaurant of note is The Kluckin’ Chicken. Located a drive away from Sun Valley, this place has its own set of loyal diners. Diners say its competes with any other chicken shop and the chicken is hot and juicy. “Delicious” and “huge portions” keep people dedicated to this establishment. The flavors have been called the “bomb.” It doesn’t get better than that. Parking may be an issue but you’ll be delighted once inside. Takeout and delivery are offered.

Another Sun Valley neighbor Banging’ Buns has earned its share of followers. They offer (what else) Nashville-style hot chicken in a hot dog bun with your choice of sauce in 5 spice levels. As one diner tells it, what separates This establishment from its rivals is the sweet addition of honey to compliment the spice of the sauces. The place is always busy (of course). In addition to the chicken, the fried also get a lot of superlative reviews. They also offer take out as well as delivery options.

The Mandarin Terrace

A Sunland Blvd staple, The Mandarin Terrace has been a fixture for years. And yes, we have a lot more than chicken shops in Sun Valley. Seasoned local diners keep coming back year after year to this authentic Chinese eatery. Like most restaurants on our list this one is called another “hidden gem.” Freshness and variety get high praise. Sample some great dishes like Spicy Eggplant or Sweet and Sour Pork. The menu is extensive so you can return to try other dishes. The quality of service is also appreciated by diners.

Close to Sun Valley on Sherman Way is New Pho 999, another Asian entry on our list. Diners like the excellent customer service as well as the food. The Pho gets high marks and though parking may be a concern, diners have kept coming back for more. No bells and whistles but just high quality, delicious Vietnamese food. Diners would give more than two thumbs up if they had more than two thumbs.
